Hi,

Got some more chrome shafts from a very nicce chap to replace the one's that had broken. However they are not genuine for ones. they are the same lenth and width bu the crome shat is shorter with a longer stud at the bottom, The stud is also thinner.

 

 

can these be used or am i back to square 1

Are these the Sierra McPherson strut shafts? Have 2 in the workshop -- stripped from my 40k '89 model.

They are Sierra shafts, but when I stripped them they had an oversized end cap plate. i think they may be a pattern part!

How much shorter i.e. if you sit the shaft on the bottom plate, does the upper thread protrude above the slot enough to get full engagement of the nut?

managed to get the right ones now thanks on to the next problem!
