hey all, im nearly there on my concersion now. I have fitted a re-built xe with ms v3 extra and blackbird boddies into my 2b. My next bit is to get the old astra gte 16v digi dash to work with the type 9 box. Now i have bought an adapter that allows you to fit an electronic sender to the box.

What i would like to know is has anyone done this as yet and if so do you have any advice?

Does anyone know how many pulses per rev a new ford speedo sender has?

Last but not least does anyone have a pic they could post of the type 9 box where the speedo cable enters the box?

Thanks for any input, much appreciated

Ford speedo cables turn 1000 revolutions per mile assuming your running same diff and same rolling diameter tyres as donor, I dont know what pulses the sender gives per turn but this should give you a good starting point.

cheers for the reply mate. That doesnt mean nothing to me to be honest. the sender would be off a newer ford, ie a mondeo or summit.

Thanks anyways tho appreciated

]just as a little update. If you want any sort of electronic speedo you can buy one of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160399328576&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_823wt_939

Now usually they go in the box but if your setup is like mine and is a nightmare (box out job) to get at the cable where it fits to the box then discovered yesterday that you can leave the origonal cable in place. What you then have to do is cut approx 15-20mm off the metal shroud where it would connect to the mechanical speedo. All you have to do the is push this onto the sensor and jubilee the two together. Works a treat.

Also if the sensor doesnt quite match the pulses of your electronic speedo then you can get a sequencer from DOM at migweb which alters the pulses to suit for you.
