Cleaning Donor Gearbox

Does anyone have any tried and tested ways of cleaning up a donor gearbox? Mine is covered in crud which doesn't want to come off :bad:.

A good soaking with WD40, then a jetwash using Jizer or similar. A small screwdriver for getting piles of crud out the corners

Almost the same as Nick but i use good old fashion gunk and left it to soak then jet wash. Took a few goes.

Hi,

Took mine to local shotblaster / refinnisher. Cost me £40 to have it bead blasted and nother £55 to have it etch primed and painted silver! Looks like new and the only effort I had to go to was to take it, collect it and pay for it!!

Cheers

Hmmm, don't have access to a jet wash, and don't particularly want to hire one. Might take it down to the local polish car wash, slip them a fiver and smile nicely :pardon:
