when I was doing my aprenticeship (MOD AQD) I went to Brough for some onsite training, just missed out on a flight in a F4 phantom ,because the day before the test pilot did a fly by between 2 hangers just as the CO was comming outside with a cup of tea, it would not have been too bad but he had the after burners on at the time, did get to try out a Buccaneer later though

As a boy in short trousers I went to most airshows with my father as a result of his work for the British Legion. I think it was Biggin Hill, but I may be wrong (it has been known!), I was stood on a bank looking down at the pilot of a Lightening moving at mach something.

Probably a practice run before they let the crowds in.
