stood in the garage the other day and looked at the grill, what can i do with that i thought.

stood in the corner was an old ironing board i didnt want to throw away so a cunning plan was hatched......

old ironing board,

cable tied and tack welded in position onto the original Robin Hood grill,

trimmed and tidied up

undercoated and ready to paint black

Very nice, quality workmanship there. :good:

Just keep a close eye on your engine temp on your first run, it could restrict airflow

as others have found out when using the pressed mesh for a grill. :shok:

Just what I did.

Didn't use an ironing board though; bought some mesh from B&Q

NO overheating problems whatsoever and my grill mesh is smaller :good:

Now give some thought to painting a design

well finally painted and fitted

the air flow should be fine there not that small really, about 10-12mm each hole.

i think black will be fine for now unless i find some silver paint kicking about.

might finish the edges off though as i have found some rubber trim at work.

I just got this grill off a member on here and painted it. My car is yellow with a green nose so the outside of the yellow 7 is actually green then the outer black. I used the little Humbrol enamel paints. I actually had a devil of a time locating these! What happenned to all those model shops we as boys visited? Anyway I think it looks cool and just letting the paint harden then on for the weekend!
