Sump Plug

Thrashed

Recommended Posts

Hi guys

Finally tracked my small oil leak. It is out of my sump plug. Did the obvious and checked it was done up tight, but still leaking.

My plan is to drain the oil and replace the plug but has anyone got any useful tips on how to make sure it does not leak after.

My initial though is to put some sort of sealant round it?

Is it better to swap the plastic washer for a fibre washer?

Thanks in advance

Steve

you could use a "dowty" washer Steve, most car factors sell them,

or even see if Ford main dealer list a copper washer for the sump plug, it should have some kind of washer on there

Thanks Dave

Never heard of a dowty before but looked it up and could be the fix I need.

Thanks

:good:Standard Ford part is a plastic washer ,can't remember the part no but any Ford dealer should carry it in stock as it should be replaced every service ,Dowty's are fine as is ptfe tape, copper washers or silicone sealer at a push mower man :good:
