Ferrari Dino Replica - Build Progress

Well as you've asked i'll fess up to making very slow progress over the past few months, mainly due to poor weather, as i've got to pull the car out onto the drive to do most of the work. The joys of a single garage and a car that's 2 meters wide, giving me 40 cms clearance to get down the side, and i'm not te thinest of guys!!!!

I've trial fitted all of the lights , completed the re-wiring round the front, fitted a new rad and modified the front crash beam

suspension has been changed over to a new setup with 40mm dropped springs

In trial fitting the rear shell, ive came accross a few challenges, including how to get the fuel filler in the correct place and getting the sides to line up

the filler hole is going to need to be " modified" to remove part of the c pilar and then re-welded up ....

with the sides, i've been a little too keen with fettling the donor car, so the sides don't line up!! hey ho back out with the fettling tool to put it right

just had the rear window replaced due to grinder rash

On with the back of the car now, modifying the firewalls to take the new boot and engine covers, which means moving fuse boxes, cutting out the current fuel filler pipe and re-routing the induction system!!

sounds a lot, but compared to the hood, it's simple stuf and just needs the forethought to overcome the chalenges

don't ask about time to complete, i'm going to take as much time as i need and am weather dependant as adhesives and fiberglass don't set very well in sub zero temps ... prey for sunshine

I'll get a few more photo's and upload

cheers

C

looking good so far, seen quite a few mr2 body conversions in the past and there is a company in town which specialises in them ( as seen on traffic cops. oops) a lot have been let down by poor paint work though. I really feel that if your going to spend the time making every thing fit so well, why scrimp on the paint job.

not sure how I feel about the ones with all the badges either are they classed as a fake or a homage to the real thing?
