Fiesta Heater Woes

We picked up the boys 54 plate fiesta today, and found that the heater blower only works on the 4th speed, nothing on 1st, 2nd or 3rd. Any ideas anyone? Hopefully next weekend I'm replacing the stereo so he can play his Iphone music, so I will have that section of the dash out and will get to have a look at the heater switch, but can anyone tell me how the switch actually works, i.e. is it a cable or is it electrically switched?

heater motor resistor has failed

local motor spares or ecp may be able to help .or even ebay .

doesnt look a major job

Had similar problem on SEAT Ibiza - problem was not with resistor pad - All OK when extracted and measured

Problem is in rotory switch contacts

Yes I know it's a VAG but Uncle Henry could have similar problems

I have had a look on various Ford forums and they all point to the resistor. I'll POP down the scrap yard and pick one up for now to try it.

my sisters 02 focus had exactly the same fault, heater resistor, only 15 pounds from fords

I was convinced it was the resistor on my focus but when I replaced it I discovered it was the switch! If the resistor has gone it will look overheated check it with a meter first..
