New Guy......1.6 Pinto Lack Of Power

It's a first for me sticking a v8 in, but I know a few exmos have been done okay. I'm using the guidance of other and as such my plan is;

Type 9 gearbox

Sd1 auto bell housing (with an adapter plate and ford galaxy hydraulic clutch)

Rover 3.9 pre serpentine engine with p6 water pump (cos its shorter)

Mega jolt ignition and edelbrock 500 carb on low profile duel port manifold.

With the above, I should get it in the engine bay and under the bonnet with still a decent amount of ground clearance to the sump.

Ah ok, thanks Richard for V8 info....another option I guess. I do like the roar of a V8, I had an Audi RS6 a few years back that had a fab bark at full chat!

How far down the road are you fitting this V8? Do you have a list of mods required so that I can consider vs. a Cossie install?

A few pictures of the Cortina as promised. Just a little bit of wiring to sort and then the interior and she's good to go.

Very nice cortina!!!

Now donnington show is out of the way, I'll soon be sticking the pinto and all pinto related sh*it on ebay (plus a zetec engine i've got).

Then sometime in November SWMBO will be buying the V8 (for my 30th b/day),

I'll be fully stripping and rebuild it with new shells, rings and upgraded cam shaft and edelbrock 500 carb. It's gonna run on the megajolt I already have from the pinto (just need to get an edis 8 and another coil pack).

It should easily be over 200bhp (i'd be happy with 220-230ish)
