Wheel Knocking/banging Noise....

Hi all,

 

I have a Fiat Grande Punto (need something whilst I'm building) and I've found a knocking/banging/clunking/jumping noise coming from the front nearside wheel when on full lock - only whilst reversing so far.

 

Can anyone identify this problem and a possible solution before I start diving in on it blind, or think of a specific thing to look for?

cv joint? is it once per revolution?

Yes it appears to be once per rev. What would you say is causing it/how to fix?

worn cv joint on the driveshaft, needs replacement.

yep grim is correct cv joint, a common thing on on old land rovers

Jack it up and turn the wheel by hand, should be able to feel it if its cv joint.

 

Probably not related but I got through 3 arb links on mine in 18 months...
