Newbie Introduction

Evening all,

I just wanted to introduce myself to your excellent forum (apologies if this is the wrong section).

My name is Tony Edwards from Rugby/Warwickshire and I've just today become the owner of a part built 2B. I've been digging around on here for about 2 weeks since I decided to go for a RH. Have to say -so far the info has been invaluable and I look forward to finding out more and hopefully meeting some of you guys (I'll also become a proper member asap).

I watched this RH on Ebay and it went through with no bids surprisingly (guess it may have had something to do with the location and part built state?):-

Anyway, I contacted the seller after the auction who was an extremely friendly helpful chap - and we arranged a deal. Got the package (including the 1 piece yellow rear tub) for £900 and delivery to my door at a cost of £200 for the fuel which I consider a bargain as it took him 7 hours to get here today and very probably the same home!

It only has a 1.6 pinto at the moment unfortunately but I'm looking to upgrade that asap as I believe these cars are heavy and need at least a 2.0 to get them moving? Quite like the look of those brand new 2.0 twin cams on Ebay for £900ish delivered and may well be investing in a unit soon (unless anyone on here knows any reason why that would be a bad idea)?

Had a good look over it tonight after the kids were in bed - but being a total newbie to this game there does seem an awful lot to do. Should keep me nice and busy in the garage anyway so can't complain.

Anyway - here are some pics taken tonight in the car port. Look forward to picking your brains soon hopefully :-)

It's got a 164 Block. Having done some research I can't seem to find any info on it? Would have thought it would have been 165 block - but its clearly cast 164.

I'm assuming this is the rubbish 1.6 E-max motor, but any info you have would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks Richard - We are heading over to the show today with the kids.

Looking forward to seeing the other 'hoods' and getting some idea where to start! :)

Hi Tony.

Welcome aboard.

You have a 2B with sliding pillar suspension. Quite few people have changed this to wishbones. You might want to thinks about changing this while your rebuilding.

Best of look with the project and remember its supposed to be fun.
