'open Gate' For Type 9?

Afternoon all.

 

Just pondering this one really.

Too much time to think about random stuff like this atm.

 

Anyway, i don't suppose it would be possible or has been done before for a Type 9 gearbox?

Im talking the sort of shifter arrangement that you could find on a manual R8 or Ferrari for that matter.

Just pondering as i think it would look ace.

I made one many years ago for a mates mr2. wasn't easy but looked good. but it has to be quite high up to allow for movement or the gearstick.

Yea was thinking about the amount of travel of the stick itself.

How did u go about tracing the shift pattern and the amount of travel itself?

started by measuring the length and width of the gate

then transferred to card before transferring to ally plate. which was then polished.

How are you doing, not affected by the weather over the past few days I hope!

Just a thought, but I'd think about this for after you've passed IVA.

It could be a point of fail or concern (pinch point) if the examiner has had a bad breakfast or argument with the misses.

You would also have to devise a gaiter underneath to stop heat, oil, smell coming out of the tunnel and things dropping in

I was thinking about this as a post iva mod Al.

Yea dodging tetchy iva inspectors is a good idea.

The boot idea i don't think would be too much of an issue. Was thinking about a very short black standard gaiter mounted upside down, underneath the gate.
