Can anyone find out a reg no from a vin code?

I may have put in wrong but got info it's a 1988 Sierra 5 door 2efi

they didn't etch the windows with the reg number did they? might be a bit old for that type of thing but some cars had it for security. so you couldn't steal the windows?!

Oh, did my made up VIN number then have to have a check digit ? I didn't "calculate" one for mine - just guessed one.

 

Seemed to go through the DVLA system ok

ah i was thinking the OP was trying to find the reg of an existing sierra with a vin but no plates.

 

have you bought a part built 2b and trying to find if it has been registered?

 

As said if you are going through IVA then you can make your own as long as you follow certain format.

i got a vin plate from my donor car but no reg no

I'm assuming you've got no v5 either?

 

You could apply for the v5 from the dvla, whether or not you'll be successful depends if it has been officially scrapped or not.
