More Car Fixing Than I Intended

Last weekend I fitted an exhaust manifold with built in cat to a friends car, it went as planned but was not the easiest of jobs, on the way back my Mondeo TDCI smoked a bit more than I'm used to, on Monday to work even more, that evening much more, Tuesday took off the EGR and tried it, so much smoke now and coolant dropping.

Methinks a head gasket.

Plan B use the kit car whilst I get the old Golf back on the road.

Wednesday take off drums to check shoes, grease dry bearings, refit and buy 2 tyres, only one available.

Thursday buy new discs and pads for Golf, drop wheel off on way to sign paperwork at work, return to pickup tyre, back to work on Golf, wrong discs and pads supplied, swap for correct ones, refit.

Find that track rod end and steering gator fubar

Buy new.

Friday spend 3 hours trying to get old track rod end off, fit gator, fit track rod, swap insurance, book MOT for 15:30, At 14:30 fill with petrol and bed brakes in, car feels sluggish, smell of brakes, get home and find front left brakes on fire.

Pads shot, disc is recoverable, caliper is not.

Order new pads and caliper, delivery Monday sir.

Still not looked at wobbly Hood rear end.

I'm going away ( by train) at the weekend sod it.
