Diff Bolts

Just picked up my Sierra diff but no idea what size/number of bolts I need - can anyone advise?

 

Any particular material better than another (zinc plated, stainless er...or whatever)?

When you say Diff bolts do you mean the ones the diff hangs off?

For a 7" diff it has long through bolts

For the 7 ½ " it has short bolts either side usually 6

I think they are hardened 10.8

It's a 7", so must be the long ones - any idea what length and size (M8, M10?)?

 

I've got a Haynes manual on order and I assume that will tell me?

I have a feeling that they might even be M12

They were in my kit's bolt pack from GBS.

They are old enough to be standard head size to bolt size.

19mm spanner = 12 mm bolt.

17mm spanner = 10 mm bolt.

This is the general size back in the 90s and before.

Things are much different now though.

Length will be approximately 1" longer than the flang the bolts go through, you can measure your diff for that
