Bull Bar

Hi does the bull bar on a series 3a do anything or is it just for show! as am going to take it off and leave it off! Any thoughts

No it doesn't do anything except perhaps protect the nose cone in crashes occurring at less than 3 mph. I never bothered to put it on in the first place when I built.

Do you mean the tube that runs just in front of the nose cone and down either side. If so isn't that all part of the structural strength of the front end. On my 3A this bar runs down either side of the nose cone and then goes up and into the front cross brace where it is fully welded in. On the 3A, you need as much strength in this area as you can get. This is just my opinion of course.

I will take it off and put i piece of steel from across mounting bolts if it adds strength or piece of mind!

On my 3A this bar is just bolted to the bottom of the monocoque so could be removed if needed. On later 3A's I believe it was more complex and was welded into place.

I know mines is just bolted on!

My 2b has no plough bar.

It does appear to have another cross member though.

I need to remember to look at others at the show and compare.
