I think you can if you use Land Rover gears. That's what I'm looking at currently but I've had to get a number of different gears to try. If it's a no go, I'll build 2 boxes with standard gears, new bearings, synchros and pumps and I should get my money back.

 

Basically I've bought four LT77s and 2 had scrap first motion and layshafts. One also has a scrap main casing First motion shafts aren't available new so I've got quite a few spares.A rebuilt box should fetch 300 quid on ebay.
