Braizing Advice Sought

lookin to braize a ms nut to copper pipe for me temp sender

 

have shaped the nut and heated the assembly up to cherry red but the silver solder would not flow or stick...

 

any ideas why or words of wisdom appreciated

assume you had suitable flux ?

Are you using the right flux? I seem to remember it is Borax based for Silver solder but could be wrong, I bet Jim knows!

braized the tubes on me cycle wing brackets using the same rods

perhaps the flux on the rod is not enough?

 

ne one where a good supplier of borax flux?

did know of a good suplier but they made me redundant...........

got enough to last me a few years though with the amount i do!

Why not just use plumbers solder, with flux and a blow lamp...too easy
