hi all

 

my next bit of help if any 1 out there can help

 

how to wire up the black motocraft box part number 86gb-12a297-AA

 

i need to no what wires can be cut off and lobed in the wireing corner of my garage

 

and how and were to put the other wires

hi dave

 

heres what iv got coming of the conecting block that fits to the black thingy

 

theres 11 wires 2 rows

row 1=

pin 1/brown green

pin 2/brown

pin 3/brown red

pin4/brown blue

pin 5/brown green

 

row 2=

pin 6/black

pin7/green yellow

pin 8.black red

pin 9.brown

pin 10/green

pin 11/brown

 

i think this box is the electronics for the coil and dizzy

its got a bit of a wireing diagram on the bottom of the vg loom diagram i can follow most of it

it tells me to cut out a good few of the wires but i fort i would ask you lot befor i go ahead

This looks like a hall effect ignition from the 1.8 pinto although the numbers don't match Haynes the colours do.

 

row 1=

pin 1.brown green.........engine temp sensor

pin 2.brown..................engine temp sensor

pin 3.brown red............( octane adjust

pin 4.brown blue...........( octane adjust

pin 5.brown green.........pin 86 engine management relay XI for manifold heater

 

row 2=

pin 6.black....................ignition live supply in and out to coil positive

pin 7.green yellow.........(dizzy 0

pin 8.black red..............(dizzy +

pin 9.brown...................(dizzy -

pin 10.green..................coil neg and rev counter

pin 11.brown.................earth

 

I guess you could prune 5 and leave 3 and 4 insulated and unused but no more.

i have the 2l pinto webber carb motorcraft number faded but looks like j2a297-ad and will have the same issues of trying to wire up. if you resolve let us know how you got on.

 

if anyone has suggestions for our brick they would be welcome.
