December 16, 20205 yr I am about to fit a good used piper BP285 cam to my !984, 1993cc Pinto engine. It is the 95 BHP one. Can i use my cam followers and springs or are they different? Also will i have to change the cam timming and the ignition timing? Any advice would be appreciated.
December 16, 20205 yr You should use a vernier pulley and time it using a dial gauge. Ignition and fueling will need setting up to suit, ideally on a dyno.
December 18, 20205 yr Author Thanks but can i get away with using the same cam followers or are they different?
December 18, 20205 yr Not sure on the followers. Other cam manufacturers recommend different followers for cams of that kind of spec but I couldn’t see any such recommendation on pipers website.
