Can anyone help me on this issue of speedo driven gears?

 

If yellow gear is 22 teeth, what colour is 26 ??

A visit to the local Ford dealer today proved worthwhile. To cut a long story short, the guy spent a few minutes searching all vehicles that used the MT75 gearbox and found that the highest number of teeth available is 25.

 

According to Friars spreadsheet, this will put us at about 3mph under which is better than the 12 mph under at 70 indicated we have now.

 

Apparently, the MT75 speedo drive is itself driven by a worm drive and that is how different teeth on a cog can be utilised to change ratios. In fact the worm drive can be changed to ensure a perfect match, however that is a box out jobby. :boohoo:

 

Anyway, I'm happy now knowing I'm there or there abouts and not faced with a prospect of changing the differential !
