The Pinto was a well used Unit during the 70's and 80's in such classics as Capri's, Granada's, Cortina's, and even (I think) some Transit's, as well as the Escort and Sierra.

Yep I am using a Transit block, you will need to replace the pistons with high compression ones if you take this route everything else around the block is the same

The mountings may be different, but the fitting on the block is the same just make sure you use a set of sierra mountings (check your local scrap heap for the mounting brackets but try to get a set of new rubber doughnuts as the old ones may be shot). Likewise with the Gearbox fittings, they should be all the same.

Don't think like that! :o

There's loads of help on here :D I was really down when I couldn't get the steering right, put tools away and watched tele...after doing a post on here....next thing I know a 12 year old is teaching me how to do it  :) thanks Joey :D

Soon fixed the steering :p and got on with the build. When you lose motivation just read these pages B) and think of the SVA test.

The trick with the V5 is to get the Sierra registered in your name, complete the SORN forms, advising Swansea of an engine change in the Sierra. Keep the V5 even after you scrap the Sierra. Take it along to SVA, they'll keep it when you register the Hood, and give you an unissued age related number, ie donor had an F reg, you get an F reg, but not the same one.

Cheers, Bob
