S7 Monocoque

I have spent quite a bit of my spare time recently sitting in the engine bay of Red7 with an angle grinder. I have a feeling that the monocoque seems a bit flimsy on the drivers side. This is due to the exhaust cut out in the side panel and the sump cut-out in the floor plate. Has anyone had problems in this area?

We meet again Red 7

Steve. I have bolted the front wing stays (O/S & N/S) through the side panels of the monoque and then through the flange on the rear of the engine mounts. Also I have welded & bonded a piece of angle between the rear of the engine mount and firewall on the O/S to add strength to the side with the exhaust cut out in.

There a pic of the RH demo S7 (P.A.B CHASSIS) back in 93 with its Y shaped strengther.

Think it is there to add strength to the front end and the bonnet

Steve,

I havn't had any problems.

I've got sump cutout and holes bothe sides for exhausts.

Doesn't seem to flex and show any cracks at moment.

If I get a chance I'' try and get a piccy of my under engine tray (whats left of it)

Cheers
