I agree with Bill. Have taken my GPS out with a car with a calibrated speedo and it is accurate when it settles, when i take it out with my personal cars the Galaxy is accurate to a speed 4/5ths of its top and the nackered Diesel Escort is out by 5 mph at 30 (reads under) and it justs gets worse. Set up the sat nav, go to a speed and hold until you get a steady reading then move up and hold in steady increments.

My hand held GPS is specked to 0.1MPH, I can go through speed cameras at 69.9mph while overtaking everyone else who has slowed down :D Mind you, they all speed back up to 90 afterwards and leave me behind

my GPS is accurate to 0.1mph too, i think speedos are meant to slightly over read?

my speedo over reads anyway, 30mph is 31, 60mph is 64 and 100mph is 112 on the speedo, (I ran out of private track as I was coming up to a hairpin bend  )

Well I had Tom-Tom3 in mine for a while, and it showed my speedo to be reading 3 mph high at 60 mph, I then upgraded to Tom-tom5 (Don't!) and now the speedo is only 1mph too high, so believe what you will.

Postcodes don't work, and with the speed camera software, you only get the "pictures" of speed camera sites on the screen as you come up to them, not the German bird telling you "Danger zone ahead" "Slow down, you're exceeding the speed limit" (Not heard that one myself, I've just been told that's what she says! ;) )

Also now and again it gets itself lost, in as much as the whole picture starts revolving and flitting about, it does settle after a minute or two, but it can be a bit of a pain if you're just making a manover on a large roundabout, and you need to know which way to go.

I personally am keeping it on, but a lot of people have gone back to tomtom 3, until it gets sorted out.

The "itinery" side of it is excellent though, brilliant for plotting a route, ie. for a run out were you want to go a particular way, just ask our NW crew that came to Holmfirth with us the other week!

Is 't' paper shop' still there? I remember the hills wow! and there was a green grocers that claimed things like 'Asparagus, picked by nubile maidens in the dawn on the banks of the nile' I think that was before the trade descriptions act though.

Peter, in the flat lands.

GPS should be more accurate than your speedo. You could always check it against another GPS!

Without wishing to teach egg sucking etc, have you checked the GPS is set in statute miles - air/ship nav is done in nautical miles (which are bigger) and is usually one of the available settings - 60mph is about 52knots.
