    yea same pump and pulley same hoses the filler cap is in the top hose I can run it up for so long as the cap needs to be on to pressurise the system if I leave it running till it gets hot with the cap off it blows all the water out the filler neck in the top hose and starts boiling the bypass pipe is red hot.will set timing to 10 degrees.the carb is brand new too a twin choke webber 32/36 I think
  3. phil a engine rebuild should include core plugs lol i did mine while was out to not take any chances.its the little things that catch us out.

    that's what was thinking of doing taking rad of and checking flow although it is new.then was gonna check water pump even though that is new too but I had same problem with 1.8 pinto in car aswell and used same water pump with it only being a couple of month old in old engine.

    yeah that's the one duck only difference is I have longer hoses to the rad but apart from that that's how I got it plumbed in.

    yes checked and double checked fan blow and yes the thermostat is in the correct way gonna try with half a thermostat in and see what flow I get and no the only thing I not checked is timing as not sure how far to advance it I have it set at either 4 or 8 degrees not sure till I next check.as the bypass pipe is that the one from the thermostat housing if so it is blanked off.

    i checked the temp sensor in the boiling kettle and seems to be fine. the temp sensor is where the standard pinto one was just near the inlet manifold. i fitted a t peice to see if it was airlock but seems no air in system i am getting frustrated with it now and ready to go buy a big hammer lol.i am running out of ideas now.

    to get to a 100c it takes about 10 minutes and the rad top is luke warm and the bottom is cold seems to pressurise up rather quck.

    not sure how long it takes will time it when in garage next fan switch is earthed just wondering is it worth moving the fan switch to the thermostat housing?

    what you mean by bad earthed engine? as I only got one big earth strap on mine to battery.not tried it driving yet as not tax so not sure what it will do with air flow, will have to drive it down the road at night and see what it does.the other thing is where is your fan switch mine is in the rad and thinking its in the wrong placeand should be where the thermostat is?

    not sure if everything is wired right now the temp gauge gets its reading from the sendor in the head and says 100+ the fan switch is supposed to kick in at 93 but not sure how to check temp in rad.

    new gauge fitted and no cure still goes 100+ can i block the pipe on the water pump to heater and inlet manifold as not got a heater matrix?

    did put a thermostat in today it seems to have worked fingers crossed the rad is hot at top and not as hot at bottom but hot still and fan kicks in so ordered new gauge and sender as the gauge went of the reading so ona wait till new gauge gets here and see what readings are.

    i put a filler neck on fitted to the top hose inbetween the rad top and the thermostat housing not got a pic.it has a over flow hose to a overflow bottle.

    yeah ran with cap of on tick over till will take no more water so pretty sure there no air lock.

    yeah seems to pressurise as when hot water comes out the rad cap soon as you try to open it. it has got me stumped it takes alot to get me stumped usualy lol

    the top hose is hot and cant hold the bottom aint far of the top the fan is on the front of the rad pushing cold air on to it.

    the hoses are routed the thermostat hose to top of rad and the water pump hose to the bottom of the rad as it was on the original radiator.

    all the above is elimanated 2l pinto new head gasket new rad new water pump the water flow is straight there and no bubbles the top is red hot and the boorom hose also is quite hot not far of the same temp as the bottom one.this is why it has got me baffled as everything is new

    gonna try another sender and gauge jst need to get hold of them first. and i gota temp switch for fan which has the long wire on it that goes into the rad hose.

    water seems to boil out to an over flow into a container i got it did same on old engine but thought it was cause the old engine was shot
