  1. Cheers

I do have the original somewhere deep in the depths garage, But it was conected by twisted wires and tape so not very reliable. As a quick fix four years ago I replaced it with 3 mini spade connectors so it's about time I sorted it properly.

Just wanted to make sure I was getting the right bits.

  2. Hi

Has anyone got a scan of the diagram somethings been eating mine .

Also from what left it doesn't appear to have the fuse ratings listed. Any one know what there meant to be and the circuits they support ?

Also is there schematic of the loom anywhere.

    Cheers

  3. Thanks

So it is a supressor and it was fitted on the wrong side of the coil.

Am right in thinking that the red and black wire to the hall effect trigger should be +12v, brown is earth and black yellow the signal to the amp ?

Problem is the red and black isn't at +12 volts on it's own which is why I think someone in the distant past has jumped it from the switched black wire +12v coil side.

I've continuity between the amp and dizzy for the R+B wire so I'm guessing it's a problem with the amp.

  4. Really confused by this one.

When I built the car I lifted the entire ignition and injection loom as was from the 1989 EFI 2.0 l donor.

All worked fine untill today during the MOT of all things. Lost the spark the tester moved some of the LT leads around and the car started and ran fine did the rest of the test OK then cut out reversing off the ramp. Moved the LT leads round again started OK and got me home.

Now I all ways wonderd what the blue wire runing from the loom to what I thought was a balast resister were as there not on any diagrams I have. Started to investigate cut back some loom tape and the crudely just rapped round a split in the black and red cable gone all nice and green to so I think I've found the root cause.

But there's a black ? suppresser ? it's marked with uf connected in sieres with the black power in lead to the coil the blue wire was conected to the coil side of the black thing

If it is a suppreser shouldn't it be on the switched green wire side ?

All i can think of is the ignition amp has failed and not powering the hall effect trigger up and this is a fudge.

But still confused about the black thing.

  5. Thanks everyone found a garage in Sale Town centre round the back of the kings ransom, Autotech. He's got two place's one in Sale Moor speaclising in BMW and the one in Sale that does the mot's and general car stuff. Top bloke he races a BMW and had the lap record at oulton park for a few years. I even got an invite for a few laps next time he's practicing :-).

Now the bad news didn't even get to the garage stopped for some gogo juice half way there. Two quids worth in notice most of it's on the floor and the rest is in the boot.

Pay for the juice push the car off to the side phone to cancel the MOT and wait for the petrol to evaporate before setting off home.

Turn the last corner before home and the engine cuts out and fails to restart, Couple of neigbours push me home :-(

    So two problems now.

Notice the fuel pump wasn't buzzing quick run round with the AVO no eleccy to the pump, a light bulb moment reset the bump switch and she's alive phew.

Now for the fuel leak why the F*** did I put so many bolts in the the tank cover and in such awkward places.

Turns out the concertina rubber tube had perish and split, Must admit I never thought it was up to the job.

So into the scrap pile dig out the orignal fuel filler from the sierra made a few brackets and I've now got a filler cap in the boot fingers crossed this will get me threw the test.

Just finish modifing the cover and bolting it back on and again thinking why the F*** did I put so many bolts in the the tank cover and in such awkward places.

    So try again tomorrow.

    Cheers

  6. Don't think they want the business I offerd to take some scaffold planks round to lift the car up but the first chap said he did'nt want to be messed about so business must be good for him. Funny thing is he wont do my jeep either as it's to big !. Getting the impression he's more intrested in putting the fails right so he can earn some big bucks which he ain't going to get from me.

  7. I've taken the week off work to get a few odd jobs out of the way, One of which is getting the 2B back on the road. So barring a new set of number plates (legal ones) she good to go. Popped round to my local mot station to book an mot for Thursday and it's to low to go on his ramps ! OK second chap 100 yrd down the road same story.

So does anyone know a 2b friendly mot station in South Manchester in the M33 ost code would be even better

    Cheers
