will check the wires tomorrow, think i will have to take the wire from the sender all the way back to the gauge and check it. patience wore out today so will go to it fresh tomorrow. will let you know how i get on

all the other gauges are fine, will check the wiring and see if that makes a differance. verything works fine apart from the temp gauge, under load, straight to the top of the red and over the top. back to idle and drops back down slowly. have found a spare sender unit in the box of bits, will try that as well

the electric fan has thermostat. works fine, the fan doesnt cut out at all. have checked all pipes and all in order that i can see. is baffling me that when idling is fine, just goes sky high when put under load. can rev the bejesus on the driveway and temp stays normal. is only overheating when moving. will have to start from fresh in morning

have electric fan and viscous, no problems with either, both spinning around merrily.

i have a 2 l pinto, 32/36 weber carb with choke. dizzy.points, correct,. timing set at 6 btdc. when idling the temp is fine, however as soon as accelerate have started to overheat,or so the gauge says as its staright to the top of the red. as soon as back to idle temp drops. have checked and the coolant levels are fine, oil fine.mixture is fine, have tried making it richer to no avail. any idea on what it could be? the temp sender is a black one, do these break ? any idea welcome

i have been offered a weber carb by a chappie at work, he says it is a .....weber 32 dir 104... has no idea what it has come out of as he found it in a box. does anyone know if this will fit a pinto or not, thanks in advance

my daughter has just started driving lessons, so we thought we would ring flux and put her on the tin top insurance( on wiefys insurance for a ford ka) they said " we dont cover l drivers, can i suggest you buy her a car and then she can start her own insurance policy!!!" what are the best companies to ring for insurance for l drivers? any thoughts would be appreciated. thanks

hope someone can help, i appreciate not a proper hood question,. anyway, just bought a 1999 freelander to cart the zoo about in. the rear window now wont go down, when the button is depressed it just beeps at me, the rear wiper wont go either. noone around here has any haynes manuals in for freelanders at the moment hence the question. is there a relay for these items, do they share it and where on earth is it hidden? if not any thoughts on wnhat it could be, the wires all look to be in good condition, no frays etc

have been in local second hand book shop and come across copy of david vizards how to modify ford sohc engines. priced at £15. i have broucght it home because i seem to remember few people said they would like a copy. will take beer tokens to £15 or swop for chrome gear trim , of suitable internal diameter,if anyone has one laying around gathering dust

appreciate this isnt hoodie related but as i am a diesel thicky have decided to see what the experts can come up with. have discovary 200 tdi diesel. runs fine, apart from now and then the revs drop to tick over, no power if you put your foot down, then after second or so power comes back. the engine doesnt die at all, just runs on very slow tickover, have had the injecters out and they look fine, new fuel filter, fuel looks clean and is in constant supply. any ideas? this is the first diesal i have owned and its a sodding mystery to me.haynes doesnt help either. would appreciate any ideas

will check earth tomorrow, although dont think that is the problem as the dash lights are bright. just the warning lights bad, was wondering if there is a different bulb that can be inserted?

does anybody know of a way to make the warning lights (indicaters/battery/brake) on the dash brighter am using the sierra dash, all works tickity boo but just cant see the warning lights in daytime is there a way of making them brighter at all?

got through at chadderton on thursday. driving there par boiled my left leg with the heater,couple of artics scared the bejuses out of me, got out and scorched ankle on exhaust. is this some sort of hoodie iniation ceremeny? very nice people at chaddeton,very helpful. however, the peopleta leeds dval could do better, what a hassle getting the reg. cant find papper work do it again etc, stuck to my guns that they had all the paperwork and wonder of wonders they found it. getting the reg was more streesful and hassle than the sva. and that was all because of the people. anyway, thank you to all who have answered the queries i hav hae on the build and hope to have some beers sometime at a meet.
