well they came today.......the wings are as they say brand new, not perfect condition but what do we expect......... anyway after talking to RH technical before ordering they sent me some super spec wing brakets, not the right ones said bill but oh well i'll just have to send them back and fart about a bit more.... :boohoo: so yeah i dont expect a refund in less than 2 weeks i suppose

nice one Jim dont spose you fancy making some more i spose i have to send these back :gdit: so yours are flattened tube with a bend in them and a few holes drilled for mounting? not sure whether i can make them as metalwork was never a strong point thanks for the pics mate i also noticed your rollbar stops at the side of the body where mine has a full sierra rollbar mosified was it just optional or slight modified kits?

well as usual kit car catches me out haha i dont think these uprights are actually sierra after all...in fact i have no idea now as only know what the last owner told me. so can anyone tell me if these brackets below fit the front end i have as i have no idea how they can possibly work. will i ever get my bits unless i call them every day until they actually get off their arse and call the courior? or do i have to drive up north and get them? 2nd option will also involve a lot of shouting.

don't know mate, i bought my hood off a friend who bought it off the builder. i was thinking of building my own not so sure now...

hope they sort it out soon, they could really damage their reputation beyond saving otherwise.

well i've commented on a few other topics but i think i deserve my own now. i won some cycle wings from ebay on the 12th of feb an paid by paypal then realising that its was in fact RH selling i contacted on the monday to arrange some super spec brackets. All fine they told me, anyway 3 days later i call RH to confirm no problems with my bits? They reply sorry sir we forgot to post them....They will definately be posted Friday 17th! So Today is Monday and i call them again as recommended by a friend who has heard all about the service that RH provied. Guess what? Not posted and they dont know why or whats going on with the postage dept? So i take a different tone and say that i was promised postage on friday and you didnt carry out that for me. She said she would try and get them posted today! So thats gone from a promise to a "try and" This sort of thing really is not acceptable in my book and i now have a Rh car in the garage with no front wings on it because someone promised me the parts which in all fairness would have been here by now if they had done their job as they should have. *rant off* :gdit:

cheers alan, it does only get warm under cranking. and if i start the car once a week its fine. just its pot luck after that period. i'll try the fuse thing but i know a few auto electric guys who can have a look for me if i get stuck. the other thing i have noticed is that i have plenty of battery to run the lights ect just wont turn over. its has new battery new starter motor and alternator is charging fine.

cool thanks, the battery is only a few months old so no corrosion, the positive side doesnt get hot. i'll re clean the earths again and maybe make some new fatter ones if it carries on

they are already selling that turbo kit in rolling stage for 10k thats a bit steep i think. i'll reserve my final judgement on RH after sales mid next week if my bits arrive.............

The negative side of the battery where the neg lead attaches gets quite warm especially as if i leave the car more than 2 weeks the battery gets low on charge and it doesnt really want to spin the starter very well either after this period. Maybe i have a short somewhere? I already made sure the earths are good on both earth straps? always goes after a lay up with jump leads and if used once a week is fine.

well heres some pics of what i've done so far exhaust side was a bit tricky to get off as the pedals were in the way of the bolts holding the old wings on. anyway i fitted some rivets to the holes for time being, does anyone know whats best to polish the stainless up and if theres any chance of removing the light guidelines the builder scored into the sides? was going to use an orbital polisher with some heavy polish?

Bill i didnt go for the £17 ones i went for the exmo ones cost a fookin fortune so i hope they work.

your spacing looks perfect mr sandman! hopefully it will turn out ok if the bits ever get here been waiting nearly a week for them from RH at least i can start stripping the old ones off i'll get pics of the conversion and post them for other people to get an idea how to do it.

Well i won some cycle wings from ebay which turned out to be from a company called Robin Hood haha £40 not too bad the brackets cost more than that. anyways i'll post up some progress shots after the weekend when i start cutting bits about

if your that close mate take the scuttle back to RH and ask them which car its for.

ahh right ok mate ta the weber one i got is worrying when you first open the bag of bits but it soon makes sense once you start building it. soon be goodbye to random tickover hehe

Bill that looks a bit like a original magard linkage? did he make it?

thanks a lot chaps! i had already bought a rally design setup which was crap. so i sent it back and got the proper weber one. the quality is another world compaired. anyway those pics are great i just have to reverse the levers as im mounting for front entry cables. Ed

Can anyone post up some pics of the weber twin cable setup, and also any tips before i get out in the cold and start on it? ive already part built the linkage the springs ect thanks Ed

I want to change over to cycle wings on my S7 i know its going to be left with marks all up the sides aferwards will an ally polisher bloke be able to polish out 10 years worth of grime and fill the holes where the sweepers were? thanks in advance Ed
