  1. I am looking to fit a facet posiflow (60104), spec says they will lift 12" to self prime and l know they push rather than pull so need to be near the tank. I was thinking to fit it near the diff, the 2B tank is 10" tall plus a bit for pipe exiting so lift should be in spec. Anyone else fitted these in that location, did it work ok? Will they work with filter king reg downstream? Engine is 2l pinto on dgav, 118 at wheels on RR. TIA, Bri

  2. Where did you fit the fuel pump gents? Near tank or engine bay? I'd like to fit elec pump in engine bay but not sure if pump will suck that far.

I have mech pump to a filterking (?) regulator, one line in, one out, pressure set with gauge and it works a treat (3.5 psi to dgav).

  3. After 11 years on the road i need some new wiper blades! I still have original ones on, can't remember if they came with kit or not. They are tex stainless, 8" blades on 5.2 wide adjustable length arms, the blade is fixed to the arm so conventional fit replacements won't work. They are not shown on tex website and i can't get through on pbone to them to ask. Any suggestions for replacements, without replacing whole arms etc? Ta, bri

  4. Might be a long shot, but here goes! I am after a bow for a pocket watch, the loop bit that fits at the top to attach to a chain. The top of the watch is 11mm across and chrome/silver colour required. I have looked online and I can only find them supplied in 20s, so with P&P it works out at 6 quid for the one I need. Obviously I don't mind paying something for it and P&P. Thanks for looking, Bri

  5. I understand well that ignition advance depends on engine rpm and load. But, when you are at revs high enough for 'centrifugal' advance to be all-in, does the 'vacuum' advance advance the timing even further? Say on a pinto with centrif advance all-in at 36deg at 3500rpm, and you are cruising at 3500rpm on part throttle, will the vac advance take timing past 36deg? I've looked at lots of megajolt maps and most top out advance at say 36 degs, though I have seen odd ones beyond 40 deg at low load. TIA, Brian

  6. I am confident the diodes are the right way round. It seemed so easy, use the coil input as before! I had a look behind the dash and i am connected to the red/blue wire so it should work. I looked for the white/black wire for ecu tacho input but i could not see it, need to do some yoga and then get head back in footwell!

  7. I connected my tacho to edis4 today, but it did not work. It works fine with the motorcraft amp and single coil, with tacho signal taken from coil -ve. On the edis, i connected the 2 coil negatives through diodes ( no zener) to the tacho but zilch. Anyone else had this trouble and if so how did you get around it? Ta, brian

  8. I'm after a GM MAP sensor for normally aspirated engine, with matching connector, the type that outputs 0-5V. GM P/N is 16137039 (stamped 039, 460, 883, 876 or 153 on rear),from many late 90s GM and related cars. I'd be happy if I could just get the connector on its own. Good weather is coming and numerous scrappie visits over the winter haven't turned these up, need them to finish off my ignition project . Thanks for looking, Bri

  9. Ouch. Don't you have to remove engine to replace sump, that must be at least half a day labour. Refill oil and coolant. Maybe best to get a quote and use that, you can always do it yourself afterwards. At least you have your own engine crane! Bri

  10. Thanks for organising Mitch, enjoyed the run out, nice to catch up with people I've not seen in a while and to finally meet Dave (and very excited daughter!). Maybe that is the way to do it in future, have chips first and go through a bit later? Hope everyone got home OK, rain started at ours about 15 mins after we got in, close. Has simon got a sat nav on his xmas list yet... Cheers, Bri

  11. Thanks for replies gents. Of course, 1 bar makes perfect sense! How much vac advance do you get at idle Paul and how does the map add a small amount of idle vac advance (3-5deg I've read) with quite low manifold pressure (ported handles this by reducing vacuum at idle)? Do you have TPS as additional input? Any tips on part throttle and overrun, I was thinking to reproduce what dizzy currently does, only with more precision? For max advance, I plan on using same as current dizzy is giving as this was optimised on rolling road. I guess any MAP sensor from a normally aspirated car would be OK to use then? (ford ones doing 0-5v easier than GM PWM?). really interesting learning all this stuff! Ta again, Bri

  12. I’m running 2 litre pinto, FR32 cam, DGAV carb and am looking to put mapable ignition on it. Have people used ported vacuum or manifold vacuum to MAP? How many Bar MAP works on pinto? Any figures on vac advance from working maps please? TIA, Bri
