  1. Hi Dunc

Glad everything is ok mate. :drinks:

Long time since we last spoke. Think it probably was Barkstone when the engine let go.....again! Thought you had disappeared from the planet. :db:

Would be great to see you out and about again. I now have a new motor. A nice shiney new Yellow Roadrunner Sr2 (See Febs or this months CKC magazine for some piccies of it) Quite often have a drive out your way. So when weather gets a bit better I'll pop across for a run out (can't be wet out as I can't have the car getting dirty...  )

    Hi Terry

Yep got the engine re built she is reliable now :help: . Currently got her off road in storage awaiting the spring sunshine. Your Sr2 looks great and your 2nd build to boot, looking forward to seeing her. We will have to arrange a run out, i would like to get to the South Yorkshire meets but unable to get out anyware on a wednesday. Free most weekends though.

  2. The last time i posted was back in 2010 when a had a slight hickup at Barkston when the engine let go.

Since then the engine was re built and she has been running like a dream. I have not been active on here since then but hope to get out on the odd run in 2013.

Photo before she was put into storage.

  3. Thanks for a great day it was a well organised event. I also saved fuel by getting a lift on a transporter home. Book me in for the next one, should have the Hood sorted by then. Thanks Taz for the phone call.

  4. If your setup uses standard Sierra springs in the standard place then the options are to space the upper spring mount under the boot floor down.

Use rubber spring assisters like you could get for towing or buy some longer springs.

Perhaps the springs from the estate version would be a bit longer.

    Thank you for your post.

  5. Hi,

Contact a company called DEFLEX based in wales, get a pair of sierra/escort cosworth rear spring top bushes, they pushed the height of my S7 up by an inch.

They are made of the same material that the polybushes are made from, and fit very well.. Best bit is the price! Deflex usually sell a full sierra polybush kit for under 70 quid :) so these on there own shouldnt be expensive.

Thank you for your post i will give then a ring.

  6. Has anyone got any suggestions as how to lift the rear of the car? the rear wheels catch on the wheel arches when driving with a passenger at speed over bumps.

The car is fitted with std shocks and rear coil springs in good condition, just passed MOT. Is there a good shock that could replace the existing shocks that would lift the car.

  7. Over the last few years I have undertaken various track days with my track day bike.

However I would like take my S7 on track or hill climb.

I use Focused events for my track days and find them to be great. Focused Events also offer car track days, but are there any other events specifically for the Hood, Caterham makes of cars.

  8. Good for you I hope your enjoying yours as much as I do mine, although at 5.30 this morning it was so cold I used my leather flying helmet for the first time this year.

Had a great run thanks, tested the all weather gear out on the way over it was pishing it down, the weather cleared and was great, lobster purchased drove back in the sunshine topless.

  9. Cheers Duncan,

Could so easily have ended in tears....

How's your car now. Did you get the engine sorted?

All things being equal i was due to get the car back this weekend. However its looking like next week now.

Sometimes its best not to rush things.

Anyway it should be running spot on when i get it back.

  10. It sure sounds like a blocked vented cap to me.

Do you have a choke, use it when it starts pinking, if it improves you have a fuel problem.

Maybe one of the hoses is breaking down internally.

When it does it I would declutch and switch off engine and take the top off the carb to see if the fuel is where it should be.

Thanks guys for all your comments, the lad who put my engine in is tonight looking at the problem, he thinks its an electrical problem ie electronic ignition wiring, coil etc.

    Will post.

    Thanks again ;)

  11. Hope someone can give me some advice. I have had a replacement 2.0ltr Pinto Engine fitted to the car. It has a stage one head and 205 block and has been re conditioned with say just over 100m miles covered. The engine runs strong for say half an hour then the engine will start to pink and the power drops. Could there be a simple explanation for this. :unknw:
