  1. HI, I have a series 2 and would like to fit a hood and sidescreens. I need the dimension from the top of the windscreen over the roll bar and down to the back panel. I have read that this dimension is 67" for the 2B but having measured my series 2 the dimension is just over 70". If any one with a hood can measure their car and post a reply I would be most grateful. Thanks in anticipation pete

    Underseal

Hi . Thanks for the phone number Mitch, unfortunately it has the unobtainable tone when you ring. I tried yell-com and they do not appear to have any record of a firm by that name in leeds. If any one has info about Carlife it would be appreciated if you can post a message. It seems there are a number of people after some. thanks pete
  3. Ian, Check out Jim Stott's N W hoodies site. The build tips give a write up for wiring up an electric fan . pete.
  4. hello, just thinking about the ladies not building cars... firstly theres the big problem that its seen as a "male" thing. theres the idea that it isnt a ladylike thing to be doing in your spare time. although some of us might be spectacularly impressed if a woman you met told you one of her hobbies was building kit cars i suspect that the vast majority would find it a bit odd, and any woman taking part would be suspected of having a liking for dungarees, checked shirts and short spiky hair cuts building things in general is a pretty male thing too, in the same way that primitive man built huts, to keep the family warm, being good with your hands is still seen a good thing for a bloke (!!!!) also similar to what Jim said about logic, us men (so i'm told) have a much better natural ability to imagine objects in 3D - vital for stuff like reverse parking, map reading or assembling kit cars. It sounds like especially good imagination is needed to make sense (or a car) out of the famous build video finally men are better at working in isolation (i;m thinking here of the winter months hacking bits off donors or fiddling with the self centering) while women prefer team work and discussions. but i suppose this is a message board that supports and helps builders through team work and discussions, isnt it, so maybe there should be more women building after all? swan

    Info Needed

hi chris, just had a couple of thoughts about the insurance problem. would it be possible to get someone else as tjhe main driver of the hood once its built? If its someone of an "ahem" responsible driving age then that could ratchet the premiums down a bit, and at the same time you could be racking up a no claims bonus in a sensible tin top until the hoods roaring down the road! also, how about setting a really tight limited mileage? I would have thought that a limit of a thousand miles should reduce the price a bit, and who's going to check if you do a couple of miles over it in a year? best of luck, and welcome to the gang! paul

    Sump

hi When you say the sump wont "drop away" do you mean that its still in contact with the block. If this is the case it has probably had sealant used on the gasket which can make it a b****r to move.Try to free it using a hammer and a block of wood. It worked for me. ATB Pete
  7. hi for more info on the cossie engine set up check out Dave Andrews web site on the rhocar members cars section While it may be a way forward for more power have alook at jim stotts NW Hoodies site to view his Vauxhall set up . The write up and pictures give a good idea what you can achieve. It certainly looked the biz when I cast my eyes over it at Stoneleigh on Monday. Pete

    How Did Rhocar Do ?

hello chris, glad to hear that you've joined the gang and bought your 2b. i just wondered what you meant when you said that the club wasnt the best presented? If you meant what I think you mean, namely that we were again seemingly stuck out of the way on the edge of the site then I agree. whether because the average size of our tunout is so impressive, we seem to end up there, I dont know, but its a shame we arent really in the middle of things. at one point when i was walking back from one of the halls a family in front of me stopped, turned around and started to walk back the other way, because the little lad wanted to see some more cars. although we werent miles away there were no sign to shows visitors where we were, and why its worth walking to the end of the road to see the best attended club stand at the show! London-brighton

hello, just looking through the showguide from Stoneleigh and noticed an advert for a classic and kit car run from London to Brighton in June. Has anyone been on them in the past? What was it like etc? It looks good on the paper..... Paul

Hi paul , Do you have a part no. for the massey f.rod ends (16mm.) I made a pair from the design on dave edwards site and mis- read the drawing and ended up drilling and tapping 16mm. I have looked at various firms and could not find any of that size.this would save starting again
