Hi Barry, So a trip to Gargrave is out this week then? PS. Can you let me know if you go to Harrogate. Joey (Battery inserted at wrong end) is hopefully taking a Dolly light cluster. If you go could you pick it up for me? ) I'll need to cross your palm with silver. Cheers Lee

    Clocks

Hi, Does anyone have one of the "idiot clusters" from a Dolomite spare? The central warning light cluster incorporating oil pressure, ignition, indicators etc. Like Below Regards Lee
  5. Cool...... That surely is a talking point in the boozer.
  6. Steve is correct - but if you use this link you may get to the parts list page which has links direct to the part you want without using the java applet. Try This link

    Knackered 2ltr Pinto

Depends if you can drop sump in the car or as S7 do you have floorpan under neath engine. If you can no harm in dropping sump/pistons and investigating bores. May get away with re-hone and new rings if just broken rings. Hope bore hasn't "picked up". Best way to go? I don't know. Depends if rest of lump is OK. No oil seals weeping, endfloat on crank OK then keep it. Else try and swap. My opinion cheers Lee
  11. You're not wrong Mitch. Towing vehicle is liable for it and anything else it drags around the highway. Stand - alone short term policies are almost non-existent and even if you could get one would be quite expensive. Best bet tow or do you know anyone in motor trade that would drive for you. (Car would be covered under traders policy) Cheers

    Wheel Taste

3 spokes look better IMHO. And for it's worth are easier to keep clean. Lee
  13. I have fitted a RHE Coolman rad to a 2.8 V6 and seems to keep it cool fine. Although rad is fitted vertically, it is not cowled in at all and I have had to fit those convoluted hoses , which I believe are quite narrow and seem to restrict flow. Once fitted I had problems with the 10 PSI rad cap blowing when it got hot and I thought rad wasn't keeping it cool. But as I have a header tank that should blow when it overheats I fitted 20 psi rad cap from Halfrauds and blocked off the overflow pipe just in case. I have removed viscous fan on lump due to space and I have a 91 degree switch in top hose thats kicks in electric fan and runs continually in traffic, but as soon as you hit open road rad cools sufficiently to turn fan off and seems fine. Only recently fitted and only major test was stuck in contraflow traffic on a hot day on way to Newark where fan ran but no overheating. Doesn't seem to use a drop of water in tha last 500 miles. I explain this as my gauge and sender are not matched (at all) (Dolomite clocks and ford sender reads Very Hot even before switch kicks in, so I have wired in a spare relay that offers some resistance and now my gauge reads a quarter all the time. If it gets to a half I worry. Don't know what will fit in and Exmo as I have monocoque S7, but Coolman rads seem fine. Cheers Lee

    Newbie.....

Hi Dan, Depends what your looking for. Personally I wanted a fun road car that I could tinker with, as I am bit of a Heath Robinson type of mechanic) (Read Botcher). I wanted to keep costs to a minimum and was going to buy a part built and finsh off. I happened to come across a car (older S7) that had been built previously and been off road for a couple of years. Managed to get on road much quicker than completing a part built (took me 3 weeks to gain MOT) and now have years of tinkering to look forward to. Is it finished? - NO Will it ever be finished? - Doubt it. Is it fun - Oh yes. Is it quick? - Havn't compared it to anything but 2.8 so seems no slouch Was it cheap? - Initially, but needed work. (still does) Will it be reliable? - Doubt it? Why a RH? - Liked stainless look and car width and there seemed to be such a down to earth crowd to interact with and support likely issues. (There is) Any Regrets? - Not yet - Apart from I like that 2B stainless chassis!! Each to their own - but I am please with my choice. Quick enough and handles well enough for me. Makes my old 7 series seems like a blancmange on wheels. Cheers

    S7 Weather Gear

Before I go and pay lots of money for someone to make a bespoke hood, does anyone have any weather gear for an S7, they are willing to part with? Cheers Lee

    Newark

I'll be there, hopefully travelling down on Friday night and camping. First long trip out in my car since I acquired it, and I know the footwells get hot so it may be uncomfortable. (v6 and no vents in the bonnet). Looking forward to meeting people and acquiring some bits. Avatar on the screen sounds a good idea. Cheers Lee

    Serious,oap Convicted

I Appreciate the views on the dangers of speeding, but to victimise this chap performing a public service (IMHO) and handing out a motoring conviction for a non motoring offence is ludicrous. I'm with the dizzy chap from earlier on. Lee
  25. Can anyone offer any more advice on this thread. I too have an S7 requiring a hood and sidesreens. Any good/bad tales of suppliers. I have an old hood that fits fine. Rang Polyfacto but they say cannot use as template and would need the car. Local co says can make up from old hood and need car for final fitting. They want £380 for a Duck hood without screens. I am not too bothered about the side screens as I can make these up from some old templates as well. I notice the RS Jigtec thread on this subject. Contemplating getting down there but it is a trek. Any idea how long there likely to keep the car? Any views appreciated. Thanks Lee
