It might be an idea to send it to Mat and ask him to put it on the Site somewhere as a downloadable file to save the aparent endless string of me too's !!!!!

It certainly is worth having as a reference.

Isn't it Crown Copyright? If so, you'd be committing an offence disseminating it without the DVLA's permission.

I've always wondered how the SVAOnline yahoo group got away with it.

Jon's quite right.....

The copright notice from my SVA manual..

Ianz

Have you not just committed an offence as you have reproduced a part of the said manual?

Off you go to the tower, let us know what the facilities are like. :p :p

I've had a look at that manual on the yahoo site

I suppose if you don't download it you don't infringe copyright.

It is interesting, it's a pdf file consisting of 89 pages BUT is not what I expected.

For instance - There are no dimensions given regarding position of lights or reflectors only reference to the Construction and Use regulations.

It is a copy of some official government document, extremely wordy and quotes other regulations and directives like they are going out of fashion.

If anyone else has looked at it, I'd like to hear your comments.

Terry

Not the same as any of these is it? http://www.dft.gov.uk/stellent/groups/dft_...ads_505075.hcsp

BTW I've emailed to ask if it is availble to download anywhere. It seems odd to have a whole load of rules, but you have to pay to see them, don't you think? Surely this document should be freely available?

Terry,

I found the .pdf SVA manual to be of limited use, like you say it only seems to refer to other regulations.

Unfortunately I've lost the link, but if you can find the construction and use regulations on the net somewhere, they're far more usefull.

Hi John,

I'll gladly buy you a beer to pass that on.

Where-abouts in Reading are you - beer could be arranged at Gozzards Ford (or Reading area of course).

Cheers,

Terry

Taken into consideration the cost of building a kit car

I think £35 is well worth the money,I've got my manual

their are approx 200 pages....I've not counted them

but the manual is split into all the different areas, lighting, external projections

seat belts etc.

The manual gives in one column what is expected, and in the other column

gives what would constitute a fail, for pretty much every scenario.

So go on guys dig into your pockets and buy the pucker thing.

And before you ask,I'm not on commission!!!!!

Surely to be able to refer to the "bible" and interperate what is required

must surely be a good thing, and possibly save many sleepless nights!!!!

Thats my opinion anyways

Cheers Ian
