E-bayer Beware

I know that i could get into trouble without knowing whether what the sellers says is true or not, however the desciption does not seem to match the rusty old pinto that has been hurridly given a coat of paint.

Yes it does have a Vernier pully but 200bhp+ and look at the price. No dyno chart or anything.

The tuning shop near us has a couple of Pinto's pushing 205 - 210bhp in Mk2 Rally Escorts.

He tells me you wouldn't want to drive one on the road though, no power below about 4 grand, revs to 8 grand.

Seller's feedback is good, only real way to know for sure is to take the engine apart & double check everything he says.....

Doesn't look like the flywheel has any extra dowels in it although the camera angle is bad.

Looks like it's sitting in a machine shop/engineering shop to me, that could be good or bad....

looks like a bag of sh*te to me <_<

got to say if i'd built or paid for an engine to be built to that spec i would have protected any bare metal from the elements with at least a thin coat of oil.

if he pays that little regard to the outside he probably did the same for the innards

Not all bad. 205 block. Vernier pulley. RS sump. Unleaded head I think but not injection. May be worth £100. More if you're brave and prepared to take a chance. But £670. They're having a larf!

Paint should be dry by the time you pick it up. (There are a few spots of blue paint on the wood it is sitting on.)

At a risk of being shouted down,. the off putting thing is the paint lodged between the head and block along the gasket line. Agree with the other comments, paint slapped on,..... shows little care and attention taken irrespective of what the advert says.

Build your own at this price.

thats cheap for whats been done its similar to what we're running and the power figures are realistic but if you've spent £xxxgrand on building it you would'nt just throw a tin of paint at it would you e-bayer beware indeed

It's being advertised for a friend. My thought is that it's one that they got stuck with at an engineering shop after a race team went bust or summat... I may be wrong but if so then they would have just thrown a tin of paint at it to get it out the door...

Over here in all the Hot Rod shops they paint the engines assembled too (albeit with a spray gun & a bit more care than that).

As always you have to know what you're getting yourself into. If the spec is correct then it's a bargain but anyone looking to buy should go there & open it up first to make sure it is what they say it is, gotta be worth the price of a new gasket set for the peace of mind....
