PRESS AND MEDIA INFORMATION

Tuesday 3rd April 2007

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SBD Motorsport British Sprint Championship – Easter Monday 9th April 2007

CAPACITY ENTRY FOR ALTODIGITAL EASTER SPRINT

The opening round of the 2007 SBD Motorsport British Sprint Championship gets underway on Easter Monday when the Altodigital Easter Sprint takes place at Croft Circuit with another capacity entry converging on North Yorkshire.

Heading the entry list is the 2006 SBD Motorsport MSA British Sprint Champion Roy Dawson from Biggar, in his 600bhp Gould-NME GR55. Daniel Pickett who raced a 998cc Jedi to second place in 2006 is now better placed to challenge for the title as he has now upgraded to a Pilbeam MP56 with a 3500cc engine.

Similarly mounted Stewart Robb will also be hoping to take away the award for Fastest Time and Emma Williams is going to be one to watch in her two litre Ralt-Mugen Honda as she does battle in a fiercely competitive class.

The British Championship contenders will compete in two timed runs to determine who runs in the Top Twelve Run Off that really decides the top awards.

Local competitors are also in the mix with six other championships being catered for on the Darlington & DMC organised event. Among those hoping to repeat last year's success will be Darlington's Mark Leybourne who drives his Westfield to events all over the country. Jack Frost Rally winners Chris Wise and Tracey Taylor West from Pickhill will have a car each with Chris bringing out his rally MG Metro 6R4 and Tracey her Lotus Elise.

Moulton's Simon Cole will be able to judge his Croft knowledge against fellow TVR owners and others enjoying a day out at Croft include Stuart Leighton (Hartlepool), Rhys Palmer (Richmond) and Mark Armstrong (Coxhoe) who will be debuting his Rover 200 before the Northern Saloon & Sports Car Championship race season gets underway.

The meeting also features rounds of the Westfield Speed, Michelin Porsche Club Speed, TVRCC Speed, Morgan SCC Speed and Midland Speed Championships.

With 21 Sprint Championship runners this early season round should see fierce competition all the way through the classes. Meanwhile there are 36 Westfield runners, 19 Porsches, 14 TVRs and just 8 Morgans making up a superb supporting cast.

Practice starts at 9.30am on Easter Monday with the first timed runs expected sonn after. Admission will be £10 per person with accompanied children under 15 admitted FREE and there will be free admission to the Paddock areas also.

For Further information contact either Croft Circuit 01325 721815 or Terry Wright on 01325 359895.

ADVANCE TICKET SALE INFORMATION

With big race meetings for both bikes and cars scheduled for the summer at Croft, race fans can pre-purchase tickets in advance and as well as guaranteeing entry, they offer a huge saving on race day prices.

The increasingly popular Bennetts British Superbike Championship makes a return visit to Croft over the weekend of August 11/12th and with record crowds again expected, demand for tickets is sure to be high so pre-booking is recommended.

The Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship again visits Yorkshire’s only permanent race track a couple of months earlier on June 2/3rd and with top line supporting races, is one of the must see events of the summer.

Adult admission for both events costs just £12 for Saturday in advance whilst a Sunday ticket costs just £20 for BSB (£22 for BTCC) or a weekend admission pass is priced at £28 in advance for BSB and £30 for BTCC. Strictly limited Grandstand tickets go on sale at just £5 and more details can be found along with booking details at www.croftcircuit.co.uk or by calling the ticket hotline on 01325 721815.

Sounds like we have a plan. Ok we North Easteners will have lunch at Tan Hill at 1.00pm. But if we arrive at Tan Hill early (no breakdowns etc.) we will push on to Hawes over Buttertubs (just because it's such a great road and meeting the North West Lads coming the other way will add to the fun! :D Anyone from the North East who is interested should meet at McDonalds car park Thinford on the A167 at 10.30am on Saturday 7th April. So far we have:- Kenny Brough, Norman Massey & me(Red7) but everyones welcome EVEN tin tops. The weather forcast is good so let's make this a big one. Too busy building and SVA coming up soon? Come anyway and we will take you as a passenger. That will give you a new lease of life for that final push to get your Hood on the road. See you Saturday.

Great day out ,If Big Jims roads get much more off the beaten track i`ll take the 4wd next time. never saw a white line all day.

Good weather, good scenery and good company Still don`t know why that bloke parked his motor bike on its side next to me at the Tan inn.

It was`t a Robn Hood that had the problem i have several pictures of the Cobra bonnet up.
