Young lad across the road spun a bearing on his Golf VR6 and i lent him some tools and a bit of help while he swaped the broken engine out for a scrapyard one that cost £450.

When he got the engine cover and the manifolds off it was thinner than a DOHC or Zetec, gives an honest 180bhp, plenty of torque from the 2.8 lump and a wonderfull sound.

 

Now that could be another engine option and i have one in the family Galaxy, mmmmmmmm.

i have a skoda 1,8 petrol turbo, i would love to put in the hood, wouldnt half shift with that, i know of a few lotus elise's with it in, great engine

I,ve thought about using the the vw audi 1.8 turbo they can be tuned way past the 200bhp mark. Anyone know of a rearwheel drive gearbox that would fit ?

It's been done... or at least the 1.8T has, I saw it somewhere. Maybe a Westfield but i don't think there are any bellhouses available off the shelf for any of the common gearboxes as yet

there was a Dutch company selling the BHousing adaptors on locost awhile ago,

 

they are available, how much im not sure

Practical Performance magazine had that guy building a Westerfield with an Audi diesel engine, would that have the same bellhousing pattern?
