had the good man who will assist in fixing my hood look at the offending vehicle today (propshaft went, taking with it gearbox casing) and lo and behold, engine is seized. mmmmmmmmm. now i need to find an engine. i begin to wonder if this was a slightly ill fated journey i undertook................rather than get completely negative about this, on the positive side I do have a chance to ensure what goes back in is pucka and more powerfull.

 

Have looked on the net and can find some cheapy pinto's on sites like donorspares.co.uk. But seeing as this is turning into a major situation here, what if any alternatives do I have with engine choice for an exmo that do not involve any major work.

 

I'm open to suggestions, and if anyone has fitted anything like CVH,Crossflow, vauxhall, Zetec??? or anything please comment, and will they mate up to a type 9 gearbox

found some old links, seems it can turn into a bit of a job moving away from the pinto, especially as all the ancillaries will require changing,,,unless anyone knows otherwise?? a good 205 block with a decent cam, and twin carbs, will that give me something more to play with..

I would suggest that THIS ITEM on e-bay is ideal for you, and will sort out most of your problems.

Have a look at Tiger Racing they have some complete engine packages for the pinto in various states of tune. They do not mind dealing with Hoodies at all.

Are you sure the knackered gearbox hasn't just jammed your engine the input shaft does pass the clutch and sit in the crank, it could be out of line if the box is broke.

Ben, I have a 2L block assy sitting on my garage floor, the bores seem ok, not sure about the bottom end though. Its yours if you fancy a trip to collect.
