Upside Down Coil?

Does it matter if the coil is upside down, as in the case of mine? From memory (many moons ago) I was told that they should always be upright, but cannot remember why.

All the sparks will fall out if inverted----OR---- they were, many, many years ago; oil-filled & I suppose could weep.

Are they not still filled with oil? The one on my 91 seirra was as it leaked and i had to replace it and i assumed the new one was also oil filled.

Yes, I believe they are to cool them. I would have thought that they would be well sealed as when the coil gets hot there could be seepage. I just thought that maybe the important "keep 'em covered in oil" components may be at the bottom of the coil, and if inverted then perhaps said components were not covered????????????

No idea, thats why I'm asking. Someone must know the truth.

Will we ever find out :o :D
