Injection Pinto

Hi

My mate is embarking on a zero build.

We are in the process of stripping the donor sierra.

The sierra has a pinto injection engine which my mate wishes to fit due to cost.

Any tips or advice for the injection engine would be appreciated.

Also is it worth converting it to bike carbs?

Cheers

Mike

with the 2b it is possible to modify the inlet manifold to make it fit underneath the bonnet, so you don't have to make a cut out. I don't know if would then fit under the bonnet of a zero, but if you want any measurements off mine, or the instructions, let me know and i'll find them.

It doesn't have a performance penalty fortunately!

keep the injection, if you can.

The only problem may be induction in zero. but you have it so you may as well try it and see if you require any mods.

Just be methodical when taking it apart. label, diagrams etc.

Don't forget, IVA, and emissions. With injection you may be able to get a new plate, other criteria met. With bike carbs?

I've got an injection manifold which I had modified, but in the end didn't go that route: yours for £20 if you want to collect (I'm just north of Salisbury). I'll throw in all the other bits for efi, which you could use for spares (though the loom is a bit shot). I can send photo if you like

go with the ford efi with a cut down plenum you can always upgrade later if you want but the efi lump is a good starting point and I have never found a reason to change. If you are doing a lot of track days then yes it is a little slow off the mark but for road use with a 3.62 diff it is good.

Cheers for the feedback.

My mate has decided to go the route of standard dgav carb for ease.

Oh well you can't say he hasn't been told. Injection I think will mean less fuel wasted and better starting.

He won't get a new registration because he has injection!
