Hi guys

Have got a question about sidelights,

Should there be a wire to connect to pin 58 on the sierra stalks?

If so what colour as have ran out of wires!!!

How do the sidelights work if no wire connected to pin 58?

As you can tell I done get electrics...

Thanks

Rob

Hi Rob,

What loom are you using mate? but either way, yes, you need to connect to pin 58 if using the Sierra switchgear for your side and dip etc.

Where abouts in S.Derbys are you, as thats my area also. :drinks:

Cheers,

Nick.

The zero loom Nick. Using your diagram like a bible...

My loom is an early on as it only has 6 fuses not like your 9.. Dont know if that makes a difference.

Have connected the red to pin 30 (did a continuity on this and it goes to the fuse box) But what wire to pin 58?

Just the other side of Burton

Thanks

Rob

Yes Rob, the red to pin 30 is correct. Its the fused feed to the side lights. On mine i connected pin 58 to a brown wire on the Zero loom if i recall correctly. I can't find my wiring notes at the minute mate, but somebody will be along who'll know for sure.

HTH,

Nick.

Hi

There are at least four different GBS looms prior to their current plug and play. All differ slightly in colours and features, but all work fine if you can figure them out.

Basic rule of thumb

Brown = constant live

White = ignition live

Black = earth

Have a spread sheet for the rest if needed, part of the file I posted a section of yesterday, but you will have to PM your email, it,s to big for the forum.

Regards

Simon

Simon PM sent.

It is an early loom and it only has 1 6way fuse box. If that helps ID the loom.

I think I need to connect the pin to a perm live for the sidelights.

Thanks

With so many looms using different colours its confusing. Perhaps simpler to say what the pins/wires should do.

Connect a fused permanent live (whatever colour permanent lives are in your loom) to pin 30.

Pin 30 is for feed into the side light switch.

Pin 58 is side light power out (Only becomes live when the switch is on!)

To pin 58 connect whatever colour wire goes direct to and only to your side lights.

Thanks Nigel That makes sense...

Pin 30 will be a Brown Perm live and pin 58 would then be the red that goes to my side lights, for some reason it also goes through the fuse box??

Thanks

I think one fuse per circuit is enough. If the supply is suitably fused before the switch then you don't need the fuse after the switch and can go direct. However if the supply comes from a multi supply point that has, say a 30 amp fuse in it to cope with several items then it is reasonable to have a smaller more sensitive safer fuse after the switch which would more effectively protect the sidelight circuit. 10 amps if supplying all four side lamps. Two by 5 amps if you split the circuits left and right immediately after the switch. (perhaps only for the anal/obsessional amongst us).
