Battery Cables - Where To Run Them On A Zero

I have a standard battery which sits on the battery tray in front of the scuttle. To keep things neat and tidy I was going to see if I could run the positive and negative cables straight back through the scuttle and then deal with them on the other side. I am sure I saw them being run this way on a car being built in the factory but can't find any pictures.

 

How have other people run them? What routes have you taken? Is there a 'proper' way to do this?
