You can use parts however if it has been scrapped you won't have the V5 therefore you will only get a Q plate.

That said I had a reciept from a scrapyard for a badly damaged donor it did however come with a V5 which had not been registered as scrapped and I got an age related plate.

Got done for not re-SORN-ing our donor so did self scrap of car on V5 paperwork (bodyshell still in garden) a few questions at IVA (Feb 2011) but no problem for age related. Think scrapping rules may have changed now though.

At registration the DVLA require the V5 of the donor as proof of parts used for single donor vehicle to get an age related.

You may be able to self scrap but they require proof.

Just makes things difficult when talking to DVLA.

IVA is done by VOSA , registration by DVLA, there may be a joining of both processes in the future contracted to VOSA but for now, VOSA does the scary IVA test, DVLA completes the registration procedure.
