Is it a 2 inch tube or bigger prop shaft and what is the engine and expected BHP?

I know that one can just have a fatigue failure of course, but wondering on the rating of the prop and parts. Reason is I was asked what my engine was and it's power before I was supplied up to 150 bhp and I got the standard 2 inch as you see on sierra, over that the prop was approx 3 inch diameter and a lot heavier UJ's.

Glad no personal damage done, apart from perhaps a change in attire!

There's no substitute for getting proper prop shaft made by a specialist supplier which is up to the job. Considering a lot of kit cars start of with 'mild' BHP and then get modified after IVA (more speed), its worth the investment from the start.

My four pence worth

Agree totally. I've still added some strength around the tunnel around the UJ's, and made crude angle deflectors away from fuel line at UJ's as well. Although I know my prop is a good one (for those that don't know I have Carl's old 2B), I still have worries about the fuel lines down the tunnel though and what would happen if a failure occurred (this isn't just about my car must be the same for may). With injection pump, inevitably failed fuel line, resultant high fuel flow rate and lots of sparks from prop bits = fireball. Must re prioritise the job list to re route fuel lines away from tunnel.............

well guys got home to get the car up in the air and have a proper look .........ouch ! back UJ has broke , prop has flailed around took out the wiring loom , brake lines , handbrake cable & fuel lines..........the many comment above luck and concerns about all these things running down the tunnel are very true .......

in the pictures you can see how the handbrake cables have kept the prob up ....prop itself looks ok

Looks like that U/J has never seen grease since the day it was put together.

I would have thought that it must have been making strange noises for a while.
