I do recall reading on here some years ago that if you fit large repair washers to both sides of the bottom shocker mounting boss, this will stop the shocker moving to much at the top and you may not need any spacers.

Ok you mean washers on the bottom of the damper to stop the top moving thanks ill try that

i have a whole toolbox drawer of different sizes tricky hammers

I fitted some 5 mm thick ally spacers at the top to spread the load and greased it all up and at the bottom I fitted a rubber bump stop made out of a vibration damper mount drilled out.Its not the best set up in the world but im not changing mine to wishbones..its just too expensive.
