Engine Choice And Tuning?

Hi guys

Started building a GBS Zero this month and where just wondering when the time comes what engine to get,

We are real noobs when it comes to engines but we have all ford running gear so thinking about getting a zetec

Idealy wanting no more than 200bhp 180 would be fine, just wondering if you could get this out of a standard 2ltr 136bhp engine

What mods would have to be made and how much would it be,

would a st 170 engine be cheaper, or even fitting a turbo?

Thanks

Tom

The 170 engine has better internals so you can rev higher but I think has variable cam timing so ECU choice is important

It's not just about bhp its also about the torque curve

Turbo on a non turbo engine takes planning and always costs more than you think

Take a look at this...

176bhp using aftermarket throttle bodies, 167bhp using standard injectors & GBS plenum chamber. I'm running the plenum version, with a standard 2.0 Ford Mondeo ECU that cost just 50 quid!
