Hi guys. I'm thinking of changing my tired 4 speed rocket box for a 5 speed type 9, will I need a prop shaft end also? Or will the one that's already on fit?

i was told the prop was a different size as I am running a 4 speed box hth

5 speed box is longer... so youll need a modified propshaft

If the box is a 4 speed version of type 9 then rear output is the same @ 1" 23 spline

Early ford box's were 7/8" 20 spline

I have a 4 speed fitted with new front, rear and output shaft seals, PM me if interested (not in for sale section, hence no price). I was going to fit because it came out of the donor vehicle but then had a type 9 cheap.

If the 4 speed box came off a pinto then it is the same length as the 5 speed as 5th gear is fitted after the gearbox and has a shorter tail shaft.

you will have to change the gearbox mounting holes though.
