Robin Hood Details

Hi All

I have just purchased a Unfinished Project, and was just want some details about the Robin Hoods, as I can't find a company website.

My car was decribed as "This is a Robin Hood, which they also call the Tub. All Stainless Steal welded together from the factory."

It was purchased from eBay, I get it delivered next week but will not see it for 4 weeks as I am away on business. So any info will be good.

This is the eBay advert.http://www.ebay.co.u...32063788&_rdc=1

This is a general site.....lots of useful info

This is to identify which model you have

Looks like a mark 3 with inboard coilovers to me....

Robin Hood Engineering became R. H Sportscars, then Great British Sportscars.

The model you have is pretty old, & was designed before the SVA/IVA,but just make sure you understand the IVA requirements

& build to them so you have a chance of passing the test.

Welcome to the madhouse...

Bob

Looks like a series 1 or 2 and a lot of work to get through IVA. Good Job you came on here as there is a wealth of information and help available all at the touch of a keyboard. It helps if you join the Club as well.

It's a Sierra based S7. The reference to "tub" comes from the slang for a monocoque chassis.

I got one of these through the SVA - it did require strengthening of the chassis in various areas (Eg additional plates for the seat and seatbelt mounts). I also had to strengthen the bulkhead area as it flexed on braking.

It is possible to get it through the IVA as long as VOSA accept that the design is intrinsically sound (something I didn't have a problem with for SVA).

You will need to pay attention to the IVA regs as this kit was supplied before the SVA but it's not insurmountable.

Looks to be the same as mine. From memory it needs:

Strengthening for rear harness mounts

Strengthening for all roll bar mounts

Additional bar adding to roll bar for harnesses to pass over

Strengthening for front harness mounts

Strengthening for seat mounts

Strengthening of steering column support bar

Strengthening of bulk head / pedal box

That's on top if the 'normal' IVA bits. All pretty straight forward to do though, and some of it (seats definitely) is covered in the IVA manual.
