Alternator Zetec

I don't think it matters which direction an alternator spins just to be sure anybody else know

Don't think so its just the built in cooling fan will be spinning the wrong way but 99% turn clockwise and it would be difficult to reverse except if you were running it of the back of the belt and in that case I dont think you would get it to work without the belt slipping.

This is pretty standard for a blacktop. The water pump has to run off the back of the belt as it turns the other way. Idler sees to that.

I was thinking of trying to mount alt on the opposite side of engine to keep it out of way of steering rak but I have managed to get a smaller alt so prob might be solved

I looked at that a while back thinking it would make the runs of drive belt shorter and more stable and possibly reduce vibration. The feasability study kept me busy for a few hours but I never got round to doing the metalwork. A suitable Nippondenso alternator mounted in the standard position worked fine has never given any problem.

I have just picked up a miniature alternator from jem engineering so that should do the job
