Exhaust Wrapping

I've had my pinto without manifold/exaust wrapping for the last 13 years with no problems whatsoever. The clutch cable passes between 2 of the pipes so I have the cable wrapped.

Take the headers straight out the engine bay OVER the side panel -- problem solved. And on a scientific note ( if memory serves ) a polished surface reflects heat & I seem to remember it doesn't matter which side is polished -- so is heat of exhaust gases contained in pipe by a shiny outer appearance?

Just guessing, but you don't see many Thermos flasks that have a mirror finish on the outside.

Thats because they work on the principle of a vacuum barrier

Need to look past the tin wrapper at the inner glass shell -- which is silvered.
