3.5 Rover V8 Dizzy

Recommended Posts

Guys, a friend's son is doing an engineering degree & he has a project to refurbish

a 3.5 Rover to running condition. He has the engine, & all the ancillaries

but he cant find a dizzy for it (at student's prices!!!)

The engine is either 83 or 85, & needs a female (I dont know what that describes)

electronic (not points) type dizzy.

Does anyone have any ideas where we might get one for him?

The budget is part of the project, so he cant pay big bucks.

Ta, Bob.

Hi Bob, a quick Google shows that the early electronic dizzys had a male drive gear with a tongue that fit's into a slot on a female oil pump. Later engines have a female drive gear that fits onto the tongue on a male oil pump.

Just Google rover v8 female distributor

Cheers Steve,

I'll pass that on to him.

He has to show that he's done the work himself, but I'll be

able to point him in the right direction.

He is on the autistic spectrum, so he struggles with some aspects of life,

but he really lights up when he can see a way forward on anything he does.

He has been starting to look a bit down now there is just one thing in his way, hopefully this will help.

Many thanks guys.

Hi all. My names nick and I'm new here, I wonder if anyone would be able to help me. I'm after c20xe/let standalone management to run my turbo in my Robin Hood. Is there anyone out there that has one for sale at all. Ideally the xe standalone management.
Many thanks for taking the time to read nick.

      A fairly big ask...
After seeing an RH yesterday I've decided tha,t rather than wait until next year to buy, I'm going to try to get on the ladder this year. This will mean a reduced budget but it may be worth a go.
I'm looking for a 2B, at least 10 months MOT, within 75 miles of Gatwick Airport.
      Budget.... £3500.
      Let's see what happens

I'll be looking to purchase a Robin Hood to coincide with a major birthday in 12 months time.
I've looked at Caterham's and Westfield's but cannot justify spending £10,000's on a car that will be used for weekends away and days out.
The Robin Hood looks ideal for my needs (wants!)
I'll be looking at spending around £5000. My garage door opening is small 1950cm. The garage will be heated and locked.
Ideally I'd be looking for a 2 litre, full weather gear including tonneau, standard analogue dash, any colour etc
Any advice/ideas/suggestions would be appreciated. I know the purchase is a long way off but I want to get things in place. I'm based in Surrey/Sussex (Gatwick airport)

I have a Robin Hood Exmo and its windscreen shattered last week. (a) I need a replacement. Also this car has yet to be IVA'ed so compliance is a requirement. ( Does anyone have advice on IVA windscreen compliance?
I see in the forums many contacts for glaziers who may be able to help. Also I have yet to contact GBS Spares but will do so next. All comments appreciated.
